Our Vision

At Brinkworth Primary and Early Childhood Centre, we want to nurture children to be resilient learners with a strong sense of self. We want our children to take interest in their learning while being supported by educators who model risk-taking, curiosity and resilience in an inquiry-based learning style.

WHAT AND HOW DO WE WANT OUR CHILDREN TO LEARN?

At Brinkworth Primary and Early Childhood Centre, we believe that children who engage in their learning become resilient learners. They are involved with a variety of multisensory activities based on their interests and strengths. We ensure learning is relevant to children’s lives and include the opportunity to develop 21^st century learning skills. Children are encouraged to become lifelong learners and display a willingness to learn by being curious and thinking deeply. They are supported by challenge, differentiation and risk-taking in an inquiry-based learning style.

WHAT SKILLS AND QUALITIES WILL OUR CHILDREN NEED TO SUCCEED?

We acknowledge that children will need to:

Be present at their learning place each day
Be prepared for learning
Be willing to take risks and be challenged
Be prepared to develop life skills such as cooking, gardening, fitness, teamwork and self-care
Be prepared to access technology and develop with change
Be a flexible and independent learner
Develop their wellbeing through the discovery of character traits, resilience, empathy and a positive mindset
Have a strong foundation of literacy and numeracy

HOW CAN PARENTS HELP THEIR CHILDREN LEARN AND THE SITE TO THRIVE?

At Brinkworth Primary and Early Childhood Centre, we embrace families as ‘partners in learning.’ We acknowledge the importance of having a strong partnership as this develops a deeper engagement, curiosity and progression of learning. Educators, parents and the children have identified that parents can help their children to learn through;

Being accountable by keeping up to date with newsletters, DOJO notes and the school Facebook page
Being present and involved in the children’s learning through reading with them; talking with them about their learning; and, assisting with home learning tasks.
Promoting learning in a positive light and role-modelling lifelong learning
Getting children ready to learn – healthy breakfast and lunchbox, clean uniform, adequate sleep
Being involved in school events and learning show cases such as assemblies, special days and excursions.
Supporting, participating in and promoting the site within the Brinkworth community and beyond

WHAT SKILLS AND QUALITITES DO EDUCATORS NEED TO ENSURE THAT YOUR CHILDREN SUCCEED?

At Brinkworth Primary and Early Childhood Centre, we are patient and passionate educators who model risk-taking, curiosity and resilience in learning. We have knowledge and understanding of current and emerging practices to ensure students succeed. We acknowledge that education is always changing and ensure we continue to develop our knowledge to help promote and encourage lifelong learning

HOW DOES THE SITE CONNECT WITH OTHER SITES AND THE WIDER COMMUNITY?

The site will connect with others and the wider community through the fortnightly newsletter; fortnightly assemblies promoting student learning and achievement; our Facebook pages; the community newspaper; community events and excursions; playgroup; and, through local sporting clubs. We use social media to gain a wide audience level as well as local newspapers to distribute our school news to a larger audience. As a site, we frequently connect with other local schools and kindergartens and within our wider partnership. This encourages and gives children opportunities to socialise, connect and learn from one another. This also deepens educators’ connections with their colleagues to ensure we are creating exciting, engaging and purposeful learning for our children. We frequently celebrate children’s achievements in their demonstration of the sites values, learning and sporting accomplishments.
