UPPER PRIMARY

Our Upper Primary class consists of year levels from Year 4 to Year 7. Students are explicitly taught and scaffolded throughout all curriculum areas.  Students set individual learning goals and are encouraged to demonstrate independent learning skills. Through individual student centered inquiry based learning, children have the opportunity to work in open and stimulating learning spaces. The implementation of technology is embedded throughout every curriculum area with a specific focus on STEM learning.

The daily timetable offers students the ability to access all areas within the Australian Curriculum. Individualized and targeted support for children who require extra assistance is a priority. Learning is provided with a specific focus on Literacy and Numeracy. Trained staff work with students in a one to one or small group setting on intervention programs that support individual students specific learning needs.

The Upper Primary students have the opportunity to engage in school leadership, are involved in community projects, off site learning experiences that connect with their classroom learning, SAPSASA sports, woodwork and gardening projects, on site swimming programs, instrumental teachers, weekly cooking and active after school sports activities.

Students in this class have many wide and varied opportunities to fully participate within school life. High expectations are set for students to demonstrate the school values and to independently establish ownership of their life- long learning journey.
